Day 6, Jan 6th

Today is a Swedish holiday, Epiphany, or the “Thirteenth Day”, as my Aunt translated it… As you can guess, it’s the 13th day after Christmas. Because of the holiday, we were unable to do much because A) everything was closed and B) the roads were horrible do to the tons and tons of snow we have gotten since we got here.

We spent most of the day curled up under a blanket reading and watching movies. Later, we bundled up in a ton of layers and faced the freezing weather. We played in the snow like two little kids. We found a field with a little swing set in it. We had so much fun swinging on it.

We also learned about “Every Man’s Right” from my Aunt Eva. This is the Swedish law that in essence says that every man has a right to land… in other words; there is no land that you can’t go on. No one can put up “No Trespassing” or “Posted” signs or yell at you for walking on theirland.

Overall, it was an awesome day with some much needed rest.
